Summer is gone! I am happy that the kids will be off to school soon, yet sad. It's another year closer to them being older... which means I get older. Not liking that!

R and K love to ham it up! Can you tell?? They are so shy and quiet until you pull out the camera. It's just like you turned on a switch. I don't think that I've ever met a brother and sister that get along like they do.

I love weddings... I will never get sick of looking at the dresses, flowers and cakes. I love the feeling they produce. I've cried at every one (for different reasons, haha!), even if it's a total stranger. I guess I am a hopeless romantic. xoxo

I can't believe how long it's been since I've posted. Amazing how time goes so quickly! It reminds me why I love to photograph newborns. They change so quickly and then that time is gone. My goal is to capture their sweetness so that parents may relive those days. Close their eyes and remember the smell, the softness, the innocence. Ms A helped to pull me out of my stagnant rut. Thank you...

I cannot believe how much time has passed since I last posted. It is amazing how you blink and days disappear, months are long gone, kids are grown and taking themselves to school (sort of). Why can't I blink and have this cold winter be gone?! My most exciting news and my biggest project to date has been the launching of my website!! Yea! Click here to see it! It was difficult waiting, but it was all worth it. I love it! So, it's official. I'm open for business :)

My fun news is that my chunka wunka teacup baby came for her 1 year portraits! She is still so pretty and chubby :) Ms H, you are so laid back and easy going... does that mean you're saving it all for your mama when you are a teenager? It was so fun having her and her mama and grandma here. Thanks for making the drive up. I have a ton of images to edit. Ms H was also my first cake smash! She was so dainty until her mom smashed her foot into it :) I don't have any of those done yet, but will post some to share the fun we had.

It's been awhile since I've posted anything. My time is being well spent with birthday parties, working and definitely not cleaning. Oh yeah, and this other thing... my website!!! I have been diligently working on it. Brad and I decided to finally "make it official". I will be opening for business :) I know so many wonderful people who have really helped me by letting me take photos of their kids, paying kind compliments and encouraging me. Thank you to everyone!!

In the meantime, here is a hodge-podge of photos... some recent, some not.

I had a few (not so) willing subjects, eager to help me figure out some lighting issues. Apparently I was too boring for one, another wouldn't look at me, another was thinking "do I HAVE to?". Then I finally got two to sit for a very brief second! Thanks Little One and his friend Ms L ;) PS...I put the money in the piggy banks!

I just wanted to take this time to thank everyone for their support. It is really scary sailing into unchartered waters, but you all have made me think that I might be able to do this! Photography has always been a passion. Now it's turning into my dream! I thank you for your continued support and encouragement.

Little Cupie Doll

I've been saying how Ms S looks like a cupie doll ever since she was born. Her momma finally googled it and agrees :) I had the chance to photograph this sweet little doll. Man is she quick! Someone in one of my photography groups talked about starting athletic training for wedding season... I think this can also extend to one year olds! I also never knew that my basement had so many interesting things. Thank you to the D's for this opportunity to work on my lighting!

Little Miss A! She loves princesses & girly things. Miss A gives me a reason to buy all the pink frou frou things that I normally don't have the chance to get with having 2 boys. Three boys! Whew! This one was my shortest session, but left me the most tired :) The R's are long time friends of ours. Mom wanted some head shots to replace their school pictures. So I gave it a try. We also got one of the 3 boys together. Trying to coordinate that was pretty tough, but I hope it's ok. I still laugh about all of the energy that was flying around in our house for that short hour. Their boys get together with our boys, make tons of noise and have lots of fun! Thank you M & J for sitting during your "play time"! (Little B can't move yet, so he had no choice, haha!)

Getting back to my project in between projects....

For my birthday this year, my hubby surprised me with a gift certificate for a Harley rental. I was excited at first, but then as the day got closer, I got more nervous. So I got a little crabby, made life a little difficult. When my sister asked what was wrong, I said that I didn't have anything heavy enough to wear to help protect my skin. Well, she had had enough of my attitude and quickly replied back "Well, if anything happens, you're gonna need a skin graft anyway!" It may have been a bit more blunt than that. Although I didn't appreciate the comment at the time, it did make me laugh. I told her so later. Thank God I have a sister who will tell me "how IT is". I love her ;)

So I went and had a fantastic time! We would take the bikes and just cruise around with no real agenda. It was the perfect way to end a week and 1/2's worth of traveling to Indiana, coming back and working, then shooting a wedding in Wausau. Thank you B, J & D!! Also thanks B & K for watching the boys :)

A Tribute

My project, in between projects, or when I need a break from other projects, is to post some of my favorite photos that I've taken. Here is my first...

Many of you know that back in May 2008, UW Medflight crashed. I had never been so scared in all my life! My sister worked that night the aircraft went missing. It was her best friend that called me looking for her the next morning. We couldn't get a hold of her... of all nights she didn't take her cell phone to bed!!!

I had a happy ending. Unfortunately, 3 other families did not. Those families are in my thoughts and prayers on many days of my life. I can't help but to think of them. I can't seem to take the article "An Irreplaceable Loss" out of my letter holder next to my computer. I think that it is a reminder to me about how fragile and precious life is. It can be gone in a flash.

It makes me try to be a better person. Give my kids the attention they need when they are begging for it. I'm not perfect at it, but I am learning to enjoy it more. Even though I try to let it have a positive impact on my life, I am so sorry for their loss.

This is one of my favorite photos of all time. I took this at the funerals of Dr Darren Bean and Pilot Steve Lipperer. Also, in honor of Flight Nurse Mark Coyne. God speed.

Wow! It's been a busy week! First a trip to DCI finals in Indiana, 3 days of (paid) work, then off to Wausau to shoot a wedding.

K & S, my aunt told me that you were a fun group... she was right! I really had a lot of fun and I am so excited to get to work on your images! K, you are a true natural. I know how anxious you are to see some, so I've just picked out a few. There is no editing done yet, but I hope that you like them anyway :) I think the last one is one of my absolute favorites! Today my dear cousins came to take some photos. Ms H is almost 6 months old! Such a good baby, great snuggler and cute as pie! She really put up with a lot and really hung in there.

The O Family is anxiously awaiting the arrival of their son... I can't wait to do a newborn shoot again! Mr S is soooo excited to be a big brother! His parents are willing to let the baby cook as long as he needs to, but I think Mr S would like him to come sooner than later. Ms A put up with a lot today too... you forget how tiring pregnancy can be!

Head Injuries...No Longer a Mystery!

Hmmmm... My sister and C have a "thing" when they see each other. Everytime they are together, there is a head injury involving C. I am guessing that I no longer need to wonder why! We were invited by the P family to spend some time with them during their family vacation. We had a lot of fun! It was so nice to see S, B, and T again :) Catching minnows, kids digging sand moats, going out on the HobieCat, chasing geese and "goose poop"!
